Privacy Policy

The Kim Turner Foundation | Effective May 18, 2026

Who We Are

The Kim Turner Foundation ("KTF," "we," "us," or "our") is a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing professional training for 9-1-1 emergency communications personnel. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect personal information when you register for courses, access our customer portal, or interact with our website and training platforms.

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information when you register for a course or create a customer portal account: full name, agency work email address, public safety agency name and affiliation, job title and role, business phone number (if provided), mailing address (if provided), course enrollment and completion records, and assessment scores and certificates earned. We may also collect technical information automatically when you access our training platforms, including browser type, device information, IP address, and pages visited. This information is collected through cookies and similar technologies used by our training management system.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to process registrations, verify eligibility (active public safety employment), deliver course content and track completion, issue certificates of completion, communicate course updates and training opportunities, report aggregate enrollment and completion data to grant funders (individual identifying information is never shared without consent), and improve our courses and training platforms. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We will never monetize your data.

Agency Work Email Requirement

KTF requires all registrants to enroll using a public agency work email address. This requirement serves as verification of active public safety employment and ensures that our tuition-free, grant-funded training reaches the professionals it was designed to serve. Registrations submitted with personal email addresses are automatically rejected. We do not retain personal email addresses submitted during rejected registration attempts.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

We may share your information only under limited circumstances: with our training management system provider (Arlo) to facilitate course delivery, registration, and portal access, with our learning management system provider (Articulate) to deliver on-demand course content, with grant funding agencies (such as the U.S. Department of Justice COPS Office) in aggregate, de-identified form to fulfill reporting requirements, and when required by law, regulation, or legal process. All third-party service providers are contractually obligated to protect your information.

Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction. While no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, we take the protection of your information seriously and continually review our security practices.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to maintain accurate training records, meet grant reporting requirements, and comply with legal obligations. Course completion records are retained indefinitely to support certificate verification and continuing education documentation. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information at any time by contacting us.

Your Rights

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion of your personal information and account, opt out of non-essential communications at any time, and update your information through the customer portal or by contacting us directly. We will respond to all requests within 30 days.

Children's Privacy

Our courses and services are designed for adult public safety professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy with an updated effective date. Continued use of our services after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
