Description
Is Your Center Ready for AI?
Artificial intelligence is already operating in 9-1-1 centers across the country. The question is whether your team is prepared to lead the conversation or follow the sales pitch.
Format: Self-Paced, On-Demand | Duration: Approximately 3 Hours | Tuition: Free
Right now, someone is selling your center an AI product. The difference between a smart investment and an expensive mistake comes down to one thing: whether the people making the decision understand the technology well enough to ask the right questions.
Vendors are flooding the 9-1-1 industry with artificial intelligence promises. Some products are delivering real results. Others are repackaging basic automation with a new label and a premium price tag. This course was built for the professionals who refuse to make that decision blind.
What You Will Learn
Understand
Define AI, machine learning, and automation in plain language. Identify the specific technologies currently deployed in PSAPs across the country.
Evaluate
Apply a structured framework to assess vendor claims and separate marketing language from operational capability. Recognize the red flags in every demo.
Safeguard
Identify how AI systems fail in public safety environments. Design human override protocols, bias audits, and degradation plans that protect your community.
Lead
Develop a communication strategy for introducing AI tools to a resistant workforce. Build a phased technology roadmap grounded in your center's operational reality.
Built for the People Under the Headset
This course was designed for dispatchers, call-takers, supervisors, managers, and directors who want to lead AI adoption in their center with confidence. No technical background is required. Real-world case studies from agencies including San Diego County, Monterey County, Orleans Parish, and the City of Miami ground every lesson in operational reality.
AI will not replace dispatchers. It will change what dispatchers do.
This course ensures you are the one leading that change.
Offered tuition free by The Kim Turner Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing professional training for 9-1-1 emergency communications personnel.
